Customizable ESL Games FAQ

What are customizable ESL games?

Interactive games where you choose what goes inside. Pick a ready-made question set by level, skill and theme, or type in your own words and questions, then play. Every right answer moves the game forward.

How do I add my own words or questions?

Choose the do-it-yourself option on the game's setup screen and type in your content. The game uses it straight away, so it can match the exact words your student is learning this week.

Do I have to type in my own content?

No. The games share a bank of 3,800+ ready-made questions, so you can pick a level, skill and theme and start playing with zero prep.

Which levels are the questions for?

The ready-made questions run from A1 to B2, so the same game works for beginners and for older or stronger students.

What skills can students practice?

Vocabulary, grammar, sentence frames and expressions, or a mix of all four in one game.

Which themes are there?

Seven themes, from Halloween to everyday topics like family and hobbies, so a game fits your lesson topic as well as the season.

Which customizable games can I play?

Build-a-Monster Lab, Escape the Graveyard and Witch's Potion Shop. Scarecrow Builder is on the way, and new games appear in the index as soon as they go live.

Can I play with one student or a whole class?

Both. Choose one player, the whole class or two teams on the setup screen.

How do two-team games work?

Teams take turns answering. If one team misses a question, the other team can steal it, so everyone keeps listening.

Is there a timer?

Yes. Each question has an answer timer, which keeps the game moving in a busy class.

Can students change a choice?

Yes. The Change it button lets students swap a pick, like a monster part, before they move on.

Can students keep what they make?

Yes. At the end, you can download what students made, like their monster photo or potion recipe, to share with parents or keep as a reward.

Can I use the games online or in class?

Yes. Share your screen on KoalaGo, Zoom, ClassIn or any platform you teach on, or open the game on a classroom smart board. Students need no accounts.

Can I try the customizable games for free?

Yes. Start a free 7-day trial to play every customizable game, plus all of our other reward games and lessons.

Editable ESL Games You Can Make Your Own

Easy Peasy Learning's customizable ESL games let teachers decide what goes inside the game. Choose a ready-made set from 3,800+ questions at A1 to B2, by skill and theme, or type in your own vocabulary and questions so the game matches exactly what your students are learning.

Every right answer moves the game forward. Students earn monster parts in Build-a-Monster Lab, get Pip closer to the gate in Escape the Graveyard and collect ingredients in Witch's Potion Shop. Play with one student, the whole class or two teams, with an answer timer and a steal rule that keeps every team listening.

The games run in your browser with zero prep and no student accounts, so they work in online ESL classes and on classroom smart boards. Looking for more seasonal fun? Browse the Halloween ESL games or all of our ESL reward games.
