In this interactive phonics lesson, young learners meet the letter F in uppercase and lowercase, trace it, and learn that F says /f/. They build a set of four F words (fish, fan, fork and farm) through picture matching, a chant and writing practice, then use the sight words I, see and have in simple spoken sentences. The lesson closes with a review of D, E and F so children can hear and compare all three sounds together. This is Lesson 4 in Level 1 of Phonics Easy Peasy, following Lesson 3 (Letters D and E).

How the lesson runs
Children start with the shape of F, trace it and sort big F from little f, then sing along to an F letter song. Next come the four new words, a matching game, the Ff chant and a write-the-word task with picture clues. A tap-the-picture hunt checks who can spot F words. The second half moves from letters to reading: children learn I, see and have, drag pictures to build “I see” and “I have” sentences, and choose the right verb for each picture. A D, E, F matching game, a letter sounds song and a true or false listening round wrap up the review.
What age is this phonics lesson for? It is designed for young beginners, roughly ages 4 to 7, at Pre-A1 level, including children learning English as a second language.
Which words are taught for the letter F? Fish, fan, fork and farm, all simple nouns with clear pictures that children can say, match and write.
Does the lesson include sight words? Yes. Children learn I, see and have and use them straight away in the sentence frames “I see…” and “I have…”.
FAQ
Can I use this lesson for online teaching or in the classroom? Yes. The lesson is fully interactive, with drag and drop activities, clickable audio, songs and tap games. It works in live online classes or on a shared screen or interactive whiteboard, where the matching, true or false and tap-the-picture activities double as whole-class games.
Is this lesson good for homeschooling or self-study? Yes. Built-in audio, songs and a chant model every sound and word, so parents do not need a phonics background to teach it. Children can work through the slides with a parent or older sibling, and the tracing and writing tasks make easy follow-up practice at home.
